A South Dakota native, Dr. Ryan Geraets always knew he wanted to help take care of people, so he chose to pursue a career in ophthalmology to make an impact on peoples’ lives through preserving their vision.
Dr. Geraets graduated from the University of South Dakota, where he also completed his internship training in Internal Medicine. He then performed his Ophthalmology residency training at Texas A & M University, followed by a two-year vitreoretinal surgery and uveitis fellowship at the University of Michigan’s Kellogg Eye Center.
“I always knew I wanted to return to South Dakota; I missed the people and way of life here.” Dr. Geraets says. “One of the great things about Ophthalmology Ltd. is that everyone in the office gives their all to provide patients with the best possible ophthalmic care. Every subspecialty is represented, so if patients have cornea problems, glaucoma, or even eye plastics issues, there’s an expert just down the hall.”
Dr. Geraets specializes in uveitis as well as vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. “I’m passionate about this area of ophthalmology because I can help patients prevent and stave off vision loss, preserving not only their eyesight, but their independence and quality of life.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Geraets enjoys spending time outdoors biking and fishing with his wife and two children. |
